Welcome to the Michiana Chapter of IMA

President's Message

I would like to welcome you to the new program year. Your board is in place and has a full line up of programs slated for the upcoming months.  We will even have a CPE event in December as a separate meeting, in addition to the Holiday Bash.  Your favorites are back like Creative Financial Staffing, Larry Lackner, Bill O’Hayer and of course, Dr. Ken Milani.  We also have some new faces in our program line-up.  Please consider attending a meeting or two this year, especially if you haven’t attended in awhile.  The networking over dinner and the technical programs are great ways to keep in touch with the accounting profession, what is happening in our business community and brush up on your skills.  Where else can you get CPE for $15.00 an hour and food?

We will have another student night this year and hopefully it will be as successful as last year’s.  The student mentoring program got off to a slow start, but should gain momentum this year and IUSB wants our chapter to speak to their Accounting Association again next school year. 

2011 will be the 75th anniversary of the Michiana Chapter.  What a milestone.  If you would like to help with the anniversary event and/or have ideas on how to celebrate the occasion, please contact John Engel or me.

Speaking of 2011, plans have started for our next professional development seminar.  Mr. Excel (Bill Jelen) will be back again in May to present his latest tips and tricks for Excel 2010.  You always come away from his session with lots of ideas you can apply immediately!

Don’t forget to sign up for the IMA Webinar offerings.  They are free and give you one CPE, as approved by the NASB for each session.  When you complete the session, please let Christine Mast or me know you have participated so we can input the information for the Chapter.  You can enter your own CPE to track your education hours toward your certification requirements on the IMA website, also.

If you have any ideas on the topics you would like covered during our monthly meetings please let me know.  I have already heard from some of you with great ideas for educational sessions. Here’s for a super year of education and support for your Chapter.  This chapter exists for you and without you there wouldn’t be a Michiana Chapter of the IMA.
