Opening Message from 2010-2011 President, Chuck Phillips

Welcome to another Council year.  I am looking forward to helping the chapters and the members of the Michigan Council.  The Michigan Council is not just the fifteen or so board members.  No, the Michigan Council is all of the IMA members in the council area.  I, as your President, am here to assist both you and your chapter through the IMA experience...

Final Message from 2009-2010 President, Chris Mishler

As the outgoing president of the Michigan Council, I can express my gratitude for being allowed to serve in this capacity over the last year.  As we started out the year, we had goals and a vision that we were able to either achieve or make progress toward. Then we had some unexpected bonuses as well...

Once again , the Michigan Council of IMA has been selected Regional Council of Excellence Award winner. 2010 Annual Fall Conference Planning Has Begun

Planning is well under way for the 9th Annual IMA Michigan Fall Conference Wednesday, October 25, 2010. Jim Horsch has so ably spearheaded planning and implementation of our first eight conferences, we have a very tough act to follow. But, incoming Council President, Chuck Phillips is up to the task, and leads a planning committee determined to produce another successful learning opportunity for our Michigan area members. We will again have 8 full hours of CPE for our members and guests, including 2 hours of Ethics CPE, which is the annual requirement for our certified members. We hope you will plan to attend this year's conference. Our previous conferences were held on Thursdays, so remember this year's conference falls on a Wednesday.

Most speaker slots are already filling up, but, we are still interested in ideas for speakers and topics for this year and the future. If you can volunteer to assist in any way, at the conference, please contact Chuck Phillips, with your input. Watch our Fall Conference page on the Michigan Council website, for details, as they develop.

IMA’s 21st Annual Salary Survey

As one would expect in a difficult economic climate, the 21st Annual Salary Survey of IMA members finds little change in respondents' salary and average total compensation.  But the Certified Management Accountant (CMA) credential continues to be a strong signal of professionalism leading to higher salaries for all respondents, and data shows a dramatic increase in respondents' awareness of the IMA Statement of Ethical Professional Practice.  Findings appear in the June 2010 issue of IMA’s Strategic Finance.
