Under general supervision of the Executive Director, provides oversight for all financial and business operations of the agency. Ensures legal and regulatory compliance for all accounting and reporting functions. Works with external auditors, Executive Director, Board Treasurer and the Finance committee of the Board of Directors. Produces monthly financial statements. Provides information, primarily financial in nature, about all Shelterhouse activities that will assist management, its funders, the Board of Directors and other users in making educated economic decisions about the Shelterhouse's future. Has oversight of grant reports and billings. Supervises Business Administrative Assistant.

Minimum Education:

  1. Bachelor’s degree preferred in accounting, finance or related field, or minimum five years of accounting experience and business operations coordination.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience in financial management and administration, preferably in a nonprofit setting.

  2. Demonstrates strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  3. Payroll experience desired

  4. Knowledge of computer systems and operations,

    • Quickbooks essential; Advanced Excel skills desired

  5. Written and verbal communication skills necessary to interact successfully with individuals and groups at all levels of the organization in order to share ideas, concepts and actions in a clear and understandable manner.
